This is very much not this morning's wake-up view. The DMI returned to their original plan, and made it a windy and clouded morning. Even some drizzling rain as promised earlier they knew to provide. Later on they recognised their mistake and made it all dry up again. The wind, a cold east to south-east blast, however was in both plans and they kept their promise. The parasol was blown down, had to take it inside later on to prevent it being blown into the pond.
This morning the bakery proved worth a visit. Not cheap, but real nice breads, the kinds we like a lot. Rye bread with a lot of seeds, off-white carrot bread, and very good rolls. Once again a happy and long breakfast, with breads barely cooled down enough to slice them.
Yesterday evening we decided, seen the miserable state of his current notebook and the expected collapse of his old desktop (the chips got stale on both..) that it was time for a new system. Of course, of course you buy such a thing in a country where the operating system is another language, where the base price is a lot higher and the VAT again is 6% more. But the heavy notebook we decided on has a nice Danish keyboard built in: the keyboard on his desktop should be replaced soon anyhow, just like mine. Those were already planned as souvenir. The visit to the electronics store in Nykøbing F, with even over 14,000 inhabitants the largest town in the wide area, of course brought the solution for the undownloadable pictures. The cable needed appeared not what I thought, and was much rarer than that. Even the camera brand dealer did not supply it. So, better buy a new card reader. Simply stupid not to bring the one I have. The results are visible from now.
Nykøbing has a Kvickly, the largest and most luxurious chain of the cooperative. Tomorrow night Rosh Hashana will start, and that asked for a bit more than the basic foods we can buy here in Stubbekøbing. 1600 Inhabitants spread over 4 supermarkets doesn't leave a margin for very broad an assortment I suppose.
We carefully avoided any other shop. The notebook cost M. all his savings, and that demanded careful banking to refull the now emptied local account. ASAP even, so the 21km back home was due. We'll be there again soon anyway, to buy the rest of what we imagined as souvenir. Like the dessert spoons that at last were added to the cutlery set we brought with us over the years.
The trip itself was an eye-opener. We heard and read enough about the periphery in Denmark depopulating and all the consequences that brought, but now we saw it too. In Stubbekøbing we thought a lot of houses were for sale, but in the villages between the two towns one on five, on three, and some spots every second home was for sale.... What an impact that will have on social life and facilties you can hardly imagine; it must be monstrous.
Well, you can imagine what took all attention before cooking dinner. Martin had no experience with Win7 yet, and then in a language he did not know the tech terms... Only after dinner I took my time for the images.
